Poetry – Vintage typewriters – Wine…
Join us for a magical evening of inspired poetry writing and recitation in the style of “Exquisite Corpse,” where participants create a series of improvised collective poems. A collection of vintage typewriters will be provided, along with optional prompts. People will move at timed intervals from machine to machine adding verses, while the poems stay in their respective machines. Re-purposed wallpaper will be cut to fit the typewriter so that each collective poem appears on a long, single sheet of paper. Time will be reserved for recitation of the poetry created. Hosted by Simon Kiefer.
The typewriter is perfect for poetry. It has unrivaled immediacy and unique kinetic and sonic qualities. Without SpellCheck and exhaustive editing, the words typed in the moment often reflect more closely one’s emotions.
Poetry need not always be a “spectator sport.” Experience how easy and satisfying it is to become an active participant in this engaging exercise.
Wine will be served. Tickets required.
