POSTPONED! SBMA Inspiration Tour

POSTPONED! SBMA Inspiration Tour

NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. We reschedule soon.
Gunpowder will be publishing a new Shoreline Voices Project this year. We are inviting poets to respond to art in the Santa Barbara Museum of Art permanent collection. All local poets (Santa Barbara and neighboring counties) are welcome to participate.
Thursday, April 13, at 5:00 pm, SBMA Director of Education and muse extraordinaire Patsy Hicks will be offering an inspiration tour (free admission to museum every Thursday). You do not need to attend this tour in order to submit poems for the anthology, but you will be inspired! Meet at Ludington Court (near the State Street entrance). And of course you are encouraged to visit the museum through the next two months.
Poems should respond to work in the PERMANENT COLLECTION. Poems will also need to be strong poems on their own merit–not dependent on the artwork, as images will not be included in the anthology (although they may be included on a companion website). We are also requesting that poets release their poem to SBMA for possible future projects (maybe labels in the gallery? maybe slides? who knows??). Please include your name on your poem, and artist and title of referenced artwork at the bottom of your poem. Not all submitted poems will be published. Contributors of selected poems will receive a copy of the published book and cookies.
TO SUBMIT POEMS: Email up to 3 poems to seayost@gmail.com no later than June 1, 2017.
