Winner of the 2026 Alta California Chapbook Prize, CARLOS ANDR\u00c9S G\u00d3MEZ<\/strong>\u00a0is a Colombian American poet, speaker, actor, and educator from New York City. He is the author of\u00a0Fractures<\/em><\/a>, winner of the Felix Pollak Prize,\u00a0Hijito<\/em><\/a>, winner of the Broken River Prize and a\u00a0#1 SPD bestseller,\u00a0Circling Fatherhood<\/em>, winner of the\u00a0Poetry International<\/em>Chapbook Prize,\u00a0Patrilineation<\/em><\/a>, winner of the Alta California Chapbook Prize, and the memoir\u00a0Man Up: Reimagining Modern Manhood<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>released by Penguin Random House. A star of\u00a0HBO\u2019s\u00a0Def Poetry Jam<\/a><\/em>, TV One\u2019s\u00a0Verses and Flow<\/a><\/em>, and\u00a0Spike Lee\u2019s #1 box office movie\u00a0Inside Man<\/a><\/em>\u00a0with Denzel Washington, Carlos is one of the highest booked acts in the history of the college market and among the most sought-after keynote speakers in the world. Carlos\u2019 honors include the Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry, Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award,\u00a0Atlanta Review\u00a0<\/em>International Poetry Prize, North American Book Award Gold Medal, and the International Book Award for Poetry. A genre-transcending multi-hyphenate, he\u00a0partnered with John Legend<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0Senior Orientation<\/a>, a program to counteract bullying and champion inclusive masculinity among high school students. Carlos is a proud father of two and co-founder of the\u00a0Excelano Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brent Ameneyro is the author of the collection A Face Out of Clay<\/em> (The Center for Literary Publishing, 2024), winner of the 2025 NIEA Juror’s Choice Award. He was a Letras Latinas Poetry Coalition Fellow at the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Latino Studies, a Poets & Writers Get The Word Out Fellow, and a recipient of SDSU\u2019s Research Award for Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice. He currently serves as an associate at Letras Latinas and as the poetry editor for The Los Angeles Review.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a music artist, he has scored several short films which have been featured in Cannes Film Festival, San Francisco Short Film Festival, and elsewhere.
