Compline with Story & Sound is on Sunday, March 1, 7-8 pm, Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State Street, Santa Barbara.
Compline is a monastic service. It’s the last gathering of the day before silence is kept for the duration of the night until morning.
This compline service at Trinity is led by the Rev. Sarah Thomas. It is made of thirty minutes of rest and reflection through synthesized sound by DJ artist, Andrew Elia, then a transition with loose leaf brewed herbal tea, and concluding with the opportunity to hear a person share a personal story understood as the sacred text that is our bodies moving through the world.
The March 1st Compline will feature Santa Barbara Poet Laureate George Yatchisin telling the story “A Poet’s Progress,” about his life as a poet and what it means to be a poet laureate.
Compline happens in the sanctuary. Incense and candlelight are used during the service.
